PURPOSE

To provide area youth with a better understanding of local government, its functions and responsibilities.  To promote respect for the law.  To provide each Explorer and Cadet with the opportunity to observe the operations of the police department in the discharge of its responsibility to protect and serve the citizens of West Bend.  To provide information and exploration of law enforcement careers.

PROGRAM

The Explorer and Cadet Program will provide the membership with thorough and complete exposures to careers in law enforcement and criminal justice.  The program will provide training in report writing, criminal investigation, law, traffic control, records, fingerprinting, crime prevention and police communications.  The training will be accomplished through lectures, demonstrations, guest speakers and assignments to operating units of the West Bend Police Department.  Members will also have an opportunity to work parades and other special events.  One of the great benefits of the program is for members to ride-along with officers on patrol.
