West Bend Optimist Club
Since 1999, the West Bend Optimist Club has sponsored the West Bend Police Explorer of the Year. Since its inception, the recipient has received a $250 scholarship from the West Bend Optimist Club.To be named as the Explorer of the Year, the member must be an active member in good standing. The candidates are scored based on their leadership, attendance at school and at Explorer Meetings, their GPA in school, and the number of community service hours performed through the police department. Starting in 2010, the scores will also include activities that the Explorers participate in, such as Expositions, the National Explorer Conference and the National Explorer Academy, as well as any awards received during these events.
